Consulting and Advisory Services

For universities, health systems, foundations, digital platforms, and mission-driven organizations that need research done properly—or need to know whether what they are already doing is working.

Dr. Ward Davis speaking at a lectern during a presentation.

Who We Work With

Universities and research centers

Co-investigator roles, study design, measurement selection, and analysis on funded projects in religion, spirituality, health, and flourishing.

Foundations and grantmakers

Program evaluation frameworks, evidence reviews, and research strategy for initiatives where you need to know whether the money is producing what you hoped.

Digital health and well-being platforms

Intervention design grounded in the evidence base, outcome measurement at platform scale, and honest assessment of effectiveness claims.

Faith-based and nonprofit organizations

Program design and evaluation, grant development, and translation of research into materials your people can actually use. Reduced rates apply.

Health systems and public health organizations

Positioning spiritual care and community religious life within social determinants of health frameworks.

What We Do

Research design and direction

Full study design, from research question through measurement, sampling, analysis plan, and preregistration. Available as consultation or as a named Co-Investigator role on your grant.

Program evaluation

Building an evaluation framework for a program already running, or designing one into a program before it launches. Includes instrument selection, data collection design, and analysis.

Grant development

Proposal writing, framing, and strategy—including the funder-relations judgment that determines whether a strong idea reaches the right foundation. Grant reporting and financial narrative is a distinct service, priced separately.

Research strategy

Advising leadership on what a research program should consist of over three to five years: which questions to pursue, which partners to build, and which funders to approach.

Measurement and instruments

Selection, adaptation, or development of validated instruments for religion, spirituality, well-being, and flourishing constructs. We help you choose or develop measures that fit your research questions, population, and intended use.

Speaking and workshops

Keynotes, faculty development, clinical training, and workshops for practitioner and organizational audiences.

Coaching

Individual coaching on vocation, leadership, and professional development. Coaching is developmental rather than clinical; it is not psychotherapy or psychological assessment, and it is separate from Dr. Davis’s clinical practice.

Rates

Published so you know before you ask.

Commercial partners

$350 per hour. Digital health and well-being platforms, health systems, and corporate partners.

Universities, foundations, and associations

$250 per hour. Research design, evaluation, proposal development, and strategy.

Mission rate

$150 per hour. Faith-based organizations and nonprofits. A deliberate reduction for mission-aligned work.

Speaking and workshops

$1,000–$7,500, depending on audience, format, and length, plus travel. Reduced or waived for academic and congregational audiences.

Project work

Quoted. Proposal development, evaluation frameworks, curriculum design, and research strategy are scoped and quoted in advance rather than billed hourly.

Named investigator roles

By arrangement. Budgeted into the grant as effort, at a rate set by the sponsoring institution.

Longer engagements can be structured as a retainer. If the work matters and the budget genuinely does not stretch, say so—we would rather have the conversation than lose the project.

How an Engagement Begins

1. A conversation

Thirty minutes, no charge. Tell us what you are trying to find out. We will tell you honestly whether we are the right people, and if we are not, we will usually know who is.

2. A written scope

A short document naming the deliverables, the timeline, and the fee. Nothing begins without one.

3. The work

With scheduled check-ins rather than a report at the end. You should never be surprised by what arrives.

4. Handover

Deliverables in a form your team can use after the engagement ends—not a PDF nobody opens twice.

Or call (864) 523-4164.
