Clinical Services

Psychological assessment and therapy with Dr. Ward Davis—by secure telehealth across the 40+ PSYPACT states and jurisdictions.

Most people arrive at an evaluation after a long stretch of not having the right words for what is going on. Something isn't working—at school, at work, in a relationship, or inside yourself—and the available explanations, supports, and resources haven't helped.

I approach assessment as a collaborative process rather than a verdict that's handed down. We work out together what the real question is, gather good information about it, arrive at language you can actually use, and explore feasible strategies you can implement. My aim is that you leave with a clearer understanding of yourself and a concrete sense of where to go from here and why.

Services

Comprehensive psychological assessment

Cognitive, personality, emotional, vocational, and diagnostic evaluation for adults aged 18 or older.

Autism and ADHD evaluation

Assessment of adults who suspect they may meet criteria for autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, other neurodevelopmental differences, or mental health difficulties.

Spiritually integrated assessment and therapy

For adults who want their faith or spiritual life understood as part of the picture rather than as something set aside. This is a specialty rather than an add-on. It is what two decades of my clinical, academic, and research work has centered on.

Individual psychotherapy

For adults, drawing on the same collaborative approach.

Consultation

Consultation for adults, including individuals, groups, couples, families, and organizations, especially on matters that need expertise related to spirituality, mental health, research, clinical supervision, and clinical training.

My Approach

My main clinical expertise is psychological assessment. I work from a Therapeutic Assessment framework, which treats testing as a collaborative helping relationship rather than an emotionally detached evaluation. In practice that means that you help shape the questions the assessment is trying to answer. Along the way, you hear what I am seeing and wondering, as we try to understand the beauty and complexities of who you are, including where you are now, where you have been, and where you would like to go from here. Assessment is a transformational process we navigate together, and assessment feedback is a two-way conversation rather than a one-way presentation.

I bring respect, humility, compassion, openness, and curiosity to this work, along with twenty years of practice across telehealth platforms, outpatient clinics, university counseling centers, career counseling centers, neuropsychology clinics, and a forensic psychiatric unit. For sixteen years I also taught assessment and psychotherapy in APA-accredited doctoral psychology programs, and I was the clinical training director in one of them.

Where I Practice

I am licensed as a psychologist in South Carolina (PSY.1987) and Illinois (071.008813). I hold Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT #7226), which authorizes telehealth practice in every PSYPACT participating state. That currently includes over 40 states and jurisdictions.

All appointments are by secure telehealth.

Please note that this website is for informational purposes and does not constitute psychological treatment or establish a professional relationship. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, or go to your nearest emergency department.

How to Begin

I see clients through two established practices. Which one fits your needs best will depend on where you live, what you are looking for, and your insurance. Either clinical practice in which I work can tell you quickly if it is the best fit for you.

Josi Health, for autism and ADHD evaluation. Virtual assessment for adults, covered by insurance, with no waitlist and a report within 30 days.

The Mosaic Center for Psychological Wholeness, for psychological assessment and individual therapy by telehealth. Submit the consultation request and a clinician typically will reply within one to two business days to arrange a free 15-minute conversation.

To reach me about assessment or therapy, call the Mosaic Center for Psychological Wholeness at (919) 377-9606. Please use that number rather than the general inquiries line, because it is the one that is set up to handle my clinical calls.

When you reach either practice, say that you would like to work with Dr. Davis.

If you are not sure which practice is the better fit, or if you are contacting me about supervision, consultation, or a second opinion rather than about your own care, please use the Cascade Center contact form or call me at (864) 523-4164, and I will point you in the right direction.
